Dispute Resolution Services, Volunteer Mediator
Gryphon Place

From 01/01/2005 to

DRS Volunteers provide Mediation services to persons or groups in conflict. The primary model is Facilitative Mediation which is very neutral and is focused on developing agreements that the parties can live with. Dispute Resolution Services offers periodic training opportunities for people wanting to learn mediation and a variety of other conflict resolution skills. Our basic training for facilitative mediators is in the B.A.D.G.E.R. model, and follows the established guidelines of the State Court Administrative Office of the Michigan Supreme Court. It consists of 40 hours of instruction and experiential exercises, followed by observation of mediation sessions, a supervised mediation internship, and the potential opportunity to serve as a volunteer mediator at our center. We also offer special trainings from time to time in Community Conferencing and other techniques for managing and transforming conflict.
